Charles C. “Chuck” Cochran, 91 of Pontiac, IL died Thursday October 31, 2019 at 6:25AM at Good Samaritan Home Pontiac, IL.
Cremation rites will be accorded and a graveside service will be held on Saturday November 9, 2019 at 10:30AM at Rooks Creek Cemetery rural Pontiac, IL. with Revs. Tom Goodell and Gretchen Stinebaugh officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials in Chuck’s name may be made to First United Methodist Church-Pontiac or a charity of the donor’s choice. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements.
Chuck was born on February 16, 1928 in West Frankfort, IL, a son of Jessie and Mildred (Fickle) Cochran. He married Lois Pate, then Sharon Barrett and then later married Harriet Beck Rich on January 4, 1992 in Pontiac, IL. She survives in Pontiac, IL; also surviving are two sons: Michael (Karen) Cochran of Pontiac, IL and Gary (Jerri) Cochran of Taylorville, IL; two daughters; Peggy (Kip) Hayden of Bloomington, IL and Jacque Bailey of Pontiac, IL; one step-daughter: Jan Schneider of Graymont, IL; eighteen grandchildren: Jason (Laura) Cochran, Kelly (Mike) Colhman, Kim Jones, Chris (Amy) Cochran, Nic Cochran, Heather (Justin) Hall, Sara (Mark) Hiatt, Kip (Patricia) Hayden, Kati (Eric) Knowlton, Michael (Ashley) Bamman, Karli Walker, Alyssa (Johnny) Gonzales, Braden Marten, Sarah Schneider, Ben (Jennifer) Schneider, Molly (Bill) Stith, Abby (Yale) Young and Kate (Jon) Barth; forty three great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren and several nieces. Chuck is also survived by his beloved dog: Sadie. Chuck was preceded in death by one great granddaughter; Katie Beckman; two sisters: Dorothy Lewis and Geraldine Claus and one sister in infancy.
Chuck was a plumber with Local #99, Bloomington, IL. Chuck retired as a captain from the Pontiac Fire Department. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, past member of the Pontiac Elks Lodge, Pontiac VFW, American Legion and past member of the Pontiac Moose.
Chuck served his country in the US Navy stationed in the United States and Japan.
