Jack Dennis Danaher Obituary (1933 - 2017)

Jack Dennis Danaher, 84 of Bloomington, Illinois, passed away on Friday, December 08, 2017 at 7:28am at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal, Illinois. Jack's memorial mass will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 11am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Bloomington with Father Joe Baker officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 from 5-7pm at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington and also on Saturday from 10-11am at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic School, Advocate Home Hospice Service or charity of the donor's choice. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Jack was born on March 12, 1933 in Carter, South Dakota. He is the son of Edward Joseph and Clara Sylvia (Ericksen) Danaher. He married Rosemary Tamborello on August 14, 1993 in Levenworth, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Rosemary, his step children; Sally (David) Bobier-Hymes of Placerville, CA, George (Jan) Bobier of Tennessee, Blake (Stacia) Sterzinger of Bloomington and Paul (Janene) Sterzinger Tamborello of Clackamas, Oregon, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who knew him as "Papa Jack". He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters. Jack served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War as an Air Craft Mechanic from 1952-1972. After serving in the military he went to school at Northern Michigan University graduating in 1976 with his bachelors degree in Industrial Psychology. He then went to work for the Stimi Plant as a mechanic/manager and he later worked as a bus driver in Lansing, Kansas retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Cursillo Movement in September 2009 and the Monday Night Bible Study Group.
