Obituary for John E. Malcolm Jr.

HENRY- John Malcolm Jr., 75, of Henry, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 8:25 PM on Saturday September 7, 2019 at Heartland Health Care Center in Henry.

Graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday September 11, 2019 at Henry Cemetery in Henry. A celebration of life will follow at Shandy’s. Memorials may be given to Henry Senior Nutrition Site or to the American Cancer Society. Calvert-Johnson Memorial Home in Henry is in charge of arrangements.

John Malcolm Jr. was born on June 2, 1944 in Rushville, Illinois, a son to John Malcolm Sr. and Betty Jane Conour.

He is survived by his 3 daughters, Laurie (Bill) Werrline, North Aurora, Crissy (Chaka) Wallace, Dubuque, Iowa, Lisa (Doug) Johnson, Henry; grandchildren, Chelsey (Grant), Luke, Mason, and Maya; former spouse, Cheryl Little, Henry, a brother, Carl (Robbie) Malcolm, Knoxville, Illinois; his niece, Tresha, and nephew, CJ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; 1 sister; and an infant son, John Ernest Malcolm III.

John graduated from Corpus Christi High School in Galesburg. Early in his adult life he worked for the BNSF Railroad and for the Chicago Motor Club. Later he owned and operated John’s Soft Water Co. He enjoyed sales and eventually retired as a car salesman.

In his younger years, John enjoyed flying planes, parachuting, and swimming. More recently, you could find him playing the lottery, or reading an US magazine. He took great pride in his family. He told everyone he met stories of how proud he was. He will be remembered by those who knew him well for his unique sense of humor. “You will always be our favorite John, we love you.”
