Obituary for John P. Haushalter

LEXINGTON- John P. Haushalter, 93, of Lexington passed away at 1:45 AM on Sunday December 30, 2018 at Advocate Bromenn Medical Center in Normal.

Visitation will be held from 12 noon to 2 PM on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home in Lexington. Private interment will be at Lexington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lexington Community Center, 207 W. Main St. Lexington, IL 61753. Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home in Lexington is in charge of arrangements.

John P. Haushalter was born on August 26, 1925 in Lexington, a son of Bertram and Dorothy Long Haushalter. He married Marie Ferrall in Pontiac on June 15, 1947. She preceded him in death in 2007.

Surviving are his 3 daughters: Janet (Jon) Slater, Dallas, TX; Judy (Jim) Killian, Lexington, IL; Jane (Tom) Luscombe, Frankfort, IL; 5 grandchildren: Thomas (Nicole) Luscombe, Katharine (Eric) Donnellan, Jill (Andrew) Lenz, Emily (Cody) Ketelsen, Hannah (Brandon) Matlock; and 10 great-grandchildren: Anna, Julia, Jack, Holden, Hudson, Scarlett, Liam, Hayes, Isla, Claire.

He was preceded in death by 1 sister.

John graduated from Lexington High School. He served as a pilot in the United States Navy during WWII. John was the fourth generation owner of Haushalter’s Food Store. He was also a 50+ year member of the El Paso Golf Club.
