Obituary for Larry Harshbarger

SECOR- Larry Harshbarger, 78, of Secor passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at 10:15 P.M. on Tuesday January 1, 2019 at his residence.

His memorial service will be at 2 PM on Friday January 4, 2019 at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso with Rev. Charlie Graul officiating. Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 PM at the memorial home. Military Rites will be presented following the service at the memorial home. Calvert-Johnson and Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso is in charge of arrangements

Memorials may be made to his family.

He was born Ocober 12, 1940 in Watseka , a son to George and Evelyn Cambridge Harshbarger. He married Carol Peters in Minonk on September 30, 1961. She survives.

Also Surviving are 4 children, Donny Harshbarger, Secor, Danny (Dianna) Harshbarger, Peoria, Theresa (Tony) Bown, Eureka, John Harshbarger, Secor; 5 granddaughters, Brandi (Mitch) Hanson, Beth (Justin Porter) Bown, Jessica (Tony Pita) Harshbarger, Jerrica (Mike) Sparks, Haillee Harshbarger; 2 grandsons, Braidy Bown, Shawn (Katie) Snider; 9 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Carolyn (Frank) Rarick, Secor, and Linda (Charles) Feeney, El Paso.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Toni.

Larry served in the United States Army. He was a 60 Year member of the Secor Sportsman Club and also a 30 year volunteer firefighter in Secor; serving 15 of those years as trustee. He worked as a mechanic at Caterpillar for 30 years. Some of his favorite past times included camping, fishing and playing horseshoes. He enjoyed collecting hats,canes and ducks. He and Donny especially liked collecting Yard Sticks. He enjoyed riding around in his golf cart .He also enjoyed morning coffee with ‘the guys’. Most of all he enjoyed his family. He and Carol did everything together. He loved every moment spent with his family especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren
