Obituary for Marguerite Ann Carlson

Dwight – Marguerite Anne “Peg” Carlson, 92, of Dwight passed away Friday, January 25, 2019, at her home in Dwight surrounded by her family.

She was born July 26, 1926 in Dwight, a daughter of Harold and Florence Ralph Rhode. She married Jewell Harry Carlson May 17, 1947 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dwight. He survives. Also surviving are her four daughters, Linda (Dana) Rosendall of Lake Wales, FL, Marcia (Phillip) Fayhee of Bloomington, IL, Laura Carlson (Mike Henderson) of Dwight, Kimberly (Jerry) Diss of Ransom, IL and her two sons, Douglas (Catherine) Carlson of Dwight and Robert (Christopher Palmer) of Pasadena, CA. Seven grandchildren, Jennifer Robison, Rebecca Vandenberge, Brenton Fayhee, Sarah Stead, Megan Wright, Jeffery Carlson and Ashley Carlson and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Alveta Riber, and Bernadine Burns, and brothers, Floyd Rhode and Robert Rhode.

Visitation will be Monday, January 28, 2019 from 9:00AM until the time of services at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight, IL. Funeral services will be that same day at 11:00AM also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Dwight.

She was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and it’s Alter and Rosary Society, serving as circle leader many times. She was also a member of The Catholic Daughters of the Americas. In 1995 she was named Livingston County’s outstanding Volunteer of the year by the East Central Illinois Area Agency on Aging for her volunteer work with the Dwight Peace Meal Senior Nutrition Program, where she served as site supervisor for over 17 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, reading and spending time with her family. She started each day by meeting her group of lifelong friends for coffee. Her greatest joy came by being of service to others.
