Obituary for Robert A. Majesky

Rutland:
Robert Allan Majesky, 72, of Rutland, passed away Monday March 11, 2019, 10:44 am at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family graveside service will be held at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Minonk, where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Rutland American Legion or to the Pontiac VFW Post. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca is in charge of arrangements.
Robert was born September 25, 1946 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Streator, IL to Thomas and Elsie (Turini) Majesky. He married Mary Lou Gallup on November 26, 1976 in Minonk, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his step sons, Brian Barth, of Minonk and W. Keith (Tammy) Barth, of Pattonsburg, three grandchildren, Willie, Tyler and Isaac Barth.
His parents, one brother, Dennis Majesky, two grandchildren, Audrey and Sarah Barth, daughter-in-law, Sharon Barth and his best friend, R.G. Drummett, preceded him in death.
Robert graduated from Toluca High School, class of 1965. Robert had served his county in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam, from 1966 to 1968. He received his training at Camp Lejeune, NC. While stationed in Vietnam, he was wounded and received the Purple Heart Award for his wounds. He also received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Campaign Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. Robert was a Life member of the Rutland American Legion, Post 1121, the Pontiac VFW, Post 886 and the AMVETS.
Before and after his service in the Marines, he worked at Caterpillar Tractor Co. He later went on to work at the Pontiac Correctional Center as a supply superintendent.
He was of the Catholic Faith and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
