Obituary for Theresa Patricia "Pat" Pedigo

Theresa Patricia “Pat” Pedigo, 82, of Argenta, IL passed away 6:02 PM May 7, 2019 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

No Services are planned at this time. Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.

Pat was born October 27, 1936 in Decatur, IL the daughter of Carrado and Hattie B. (Steed) Marcheschi.

Survivors include her husband, John C. Pedigo, Argenta, IL, daughter, Teresa Ann Pedigo, Fairview Heights, IL, along with several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Madge (Orville) Butt; Helen (Earl) Thomas; Mary (Nathaniel) Montgomery; Barbara (Jack) Raffety; Norma Marcheschi, brothers, Kenneth, Mikesell and Francis Marcheschi.

Pat graduated from Decatur High School in 1954 and from Memorial School of Nursing in Springfield, IL in 1957. She began her nursing career that same year at St. Mary’s Hospital located at Wood and Webster Streets in Decatur, IL. In 1961 she enjoyed the experience of moving into the new hospital on Lake Shore Dr. She later worked for Doctors Cummins and Shackelford in Cerro Gordo. Pat also worked for several years at the Argenta-Oreana Library.

Pat married John Pedigo on April 19, 1964 at the Church of the Brethren in Decatur, IL. While these two had grown up in the same neighborhood in the city of Decatur and while Pat had prepared for and entered her chosen profession, John had spent his early years working on farms in hopes of fulfilling his desire to be a farmer. When he returned home in 1960 after completing his two years of alternative service, the couple that he had worked for rented him their farm and helped him get started. For Pat, getting married, marrying a farmer in the third week of April, and to begin living on a farm in a very busy time of the year was a lot to adapt to in a very short time. But the young couple managed. And with the help of many friends, and a very supportive community, they continued to live on the farm in the Argenta area for the next forty years until retirement.
