Thomas J. Dirks age 95 of Bloomington, IL passed away at 5:30 AM on Friday, August 9, 2019 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL. His funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday, August 16, 2019, Trinity Lutheran Church 801 S. Madison St. Bloomington, IL. Pastor Billy Newell will be officiating. Burial will be Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. Visitation will be 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Thursday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL and from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM Friday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to the Thomas J. Dirks Memorial Fund. Thomas was born August 30, 1923 in Danvers, Illinois the son of Anton Daniel and Marie Thomas Dirks. He married Velma A. Rapp in Stanford, IL. She passed away April 19, 1987. Surviving are his 3 children, Alan Dirks, Bloomington, IL, Clarice (Alan) Holderly, Arrowsmith, IL, Brian (Linda) Dirks, Ellsworth, IL, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Edna Marie Thompson, Colfax, IL. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Selma Voorhees. Thomas had been a lifetime farmer in the Danvers & Bloomington area.
