Rebecca Ann "Becky" Lockett, 62, Normal, IL, died Tuesday – May 14, 2013 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL
Her funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Mr. Doug Ferrier officiating. Burial will follow at Funks Grove Cemetery, rural McLean with Ch, Lt Col Kevin L. Lockett, officiating at the graveside committal. Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m., Friday and 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 am on Saturday at the memorial home.

Becky was born June 13, 1950 at Streator, IL a daughter of Stanley Leland and Mary M Palochko Matsick. She married Michael Lee Lockett April 8, 1972 in St. Stephen's Church, Streator, IL. Her loving husband survives and will carry on the love she had for people and the arts.
Also surviving is her mother, Mary M Matsick, Normal, IL, two sons, Michael Wayne (Rachel Nicole) Lockett, and their children, Michael Thomas, Emma Nicole and Evelynn Elizabeth Lockett, Lakeville, Minn., and Mark Andrew (Dawn Cheryl) Lockett, and their children, Eleni Dawn and Julia Garyn Lockett, Normal, IL, a sister, Ramona Jean (Gerry) Garner, Hudson, IL, a niece Amanda Jean Garner, Santa Monica, CA, and a nephew Alex Stanley Garner, Beverly Hills, CA.
Her beloved father preceded her in death. The family recognizes and appreciates the care of Dr. Pramern Sriratana for both Becky and her father. He enabled them to enjoy many quality years with their loved ones.
Becky was a lifetime student and educator. Becky received her Bachelor of Science in Education in 1972, a Master of Science in Education in 1979 and a Certificate of Advanced Study, in 1994, all from Illinois State University. She earned her Master Gardener certificate from the University of Illinois Extension in 2009.
Becky was a woman of unlimited talent and creativity. Her group activities included the Hands All Around Quilting Guild, Lexington (Sew & Tell) Quilt Guild, Hudson Area Quilt Guild, the Illinois Principals Association, and Illinois Reading Council. She and Mike were founding members of the American Heritage Dancers from 1968 to 1974. She was an award-winning watercolor artist, dancer, quilter, egg carver. She was a bead artist, photographer, paper sculptor and bobbin lacer. She enjoyed making pysanky egg, doll-making, fabric dyeing, sun-printing, and barbershop music.
Becky formerly taught at Ben Funk School in Unit District 4, Metcalf Lab School, Heyworth Elementary School and later was a teacher, technology director and principal at Tri-Valley Elementary School, Downs, IL. Tri-Valley was rated among America's top-performing elementary schools immediately following her retirement in 2005.
Becky was an affirming, encouraging and motivating person. Her grace and compassion affected all who knew her. She inspired people to believe they could accomplish anything.
