Karolyn M. “Dodie” Rinn, 73 of Odell, IL. died Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 5:44AM at her residence.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday  January 24, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. Mary’s Church, Pontiac, IL., with Fr. David Sabel officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded after the funeral and a private inurnment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pontiac, IL.  A visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00-7:00 PM at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac with the rosary being recited at 3:30PM. Memorials in Dodie’s name may be made to St. Mary’s School, St. Paul School or Livingston County Humane Society.

Dodie was born on June 1, 1943 in Pontiac, IL., a daughter of Ivan and Bernadine (Gschwendtner) Bruce. She married John Martin on  November 24, 1962 in Pontiac, IL. She later married Charles Rinn on December 30, 1984 in Pontiac, IL. at their home and their marriage was convalidated later at St. Mary’s Church.   He survives in Odell, IL.  Also surviving are three daughters: Kristene Ryan of Anchorage, AK, Lyn (Tom) Tucker of Odell, IL. and Megan (Steve) Bennett of Pontiac, IL.; six grandchildren: Liana Wesselhoff, Makani Zaima, Parker Bennett, Alaska Bennett, Lucas Tucker and Claire Tucker; three brothers: Dick Compton of Seattle, WA, Gary Bruce of Pontiac, IL. and Arthur Bruce of Streator, IL.; one sister: Shari LeVack of Seattle WA.; one aunt: Alzina “Cug” Porter of Pontiac, IL. and one uncle: John “Buck” Gschwendtner of Pontiac, IL.  Dodie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Dodie was raised by her grandparents Bernard (who she affectionately called Daddy) and Gertrude Gschwendtner on the family farm south of Pontiac. Dodie was educated at St. Mary’s School and Pontiac Township High School.  Dodie had been employed at St. James Hospital, Cargill and APL Logistics.   She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Pontiac, IL.

Dodie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Prayers and condolences to to Dodie's family. 60+ years ago Dodie was my babysitter as my Mom worked. Dodie always had a smile and a kind greeting for our family.

My prayers and condolences go out to Dodie's family. We worked together in Normal at GATX. Dodie was a pioneer as one of our finest Quality Auditors. She had a warmth, calmness and humor that really helped everyone around her. Dodie will be greatly missed, and fondly remembered.
