Scott R. Hager

A native of Dwight, Scott spent his personal and professional life investing his time and energy into the community that he dearly loved. Scott especially appreciated the history associated with his hometown and the opportunities to raise funds and awareness for community projects benefiting Dwight. Scott received the first B.A. Degree in Mortuary Science in Illinois and was a graduate of Iowa Wesleyan College and Southern Illinois University. He later ran a trade embalming service in Dade County, Florida. Scott's hobbies included stained glass, reading, and playing the organ; and he greatly loved serving his community and representing Hager Memorial Home.

Steven comes from a large family (he has seven brothers and sisters), and those strong family ties have allowed him to appreciate and value the close knit ties that are seen in Dwight. Steven and his wife, Erica have four children (Lauren, Oliver, Henry, and Arthur), and a cat named Skipper. A respected father, brother, and funeral director, Steven understands the importance of helping others, which gives him great joy and pleasure.

Henry F. Hepner (Frank)
Funeral Assistant
(815) 584-2666

Frank Hepner's love for small communities began at a young age. In fact, Hepner's home town of Ransom, Illinois (where he spent his early years) only stoked his desire to serve in those same small communities where he was raised, lived, and worked. Frank's 44-year tenure with Caterpillar did not stop him from serving as Village President of the Village of Ransom for 14 years and as a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the Allen Township Fire Protection District for 29 years. As a member of St. Patrick's Church in Dwight, Illinois, where he serves as a Volunteer Eucharistic Minister and member of the parish councils, as well as the treasurer for the aforementioned Allen Township Fire Protection District, Frank's desire to help and serve knows no limit. Accordingly, Frank openly admits that he loves "helping people in their time of need when losing a loved one or close friend and being empathetic to their feelings." Says Frank, "I have found that the smaller communities of Dwight, Ransom, and Streator are filled with people that are willing to help their neighbor in times of need. When living or working in these communities, everybody looks out for each other. Volunteering is a way of giving back in response to all of the life facts that I gained from my parents, friends, educators, and experiences that I learned from my co-workers and customers at Caterpillar." In the rare instances that Frank is not working and serving, he enjoys playing golf, doing minor woodworking, following his beloved Chicago Blackhawks, Cubs, and spending time with his three daughters (Emily, Hilary, Kaitlin), two granddaughters (Tessa and Isabel), and pet Puggle, Winston.
