Arlene j. Mabis Obituary (1930 - 2023)

Arlene J. Mabis 92 of Pontiac, IL died peacefully Saturday February 25, 2023 at 11:39am at her residence on the family farm. Cremation rites will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials in Arlene's name may be made to OSF Hospice or Ruby's Rescue & Retreat 4035 County Rd 600 N. McLean, Il. 61754. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Arlene was born on June 3, 1930 in Pontiac, Il a daughter of Harold and Minola (Johnson) Weber. She married Marvin Mabis on October 15, 1950 in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2000. Survivors include: three children: Kathy (Rick) Bammann of Plainfield, IN, Keith (Deberah) Mabis of Pontiac, IL and Janet (Mike) Turner of Pontiac, IL; four grandchildren: Austin Bammann, Andrew Mabis, Krissy Mercer and Jennifer Gerth; eight great grandchildren: Mia, Emerson, Ethan, Mason, Eli, Addison, Darcell and Rowen. Arlene was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Arlene was educated in Pontiac schools. She worked for Farm Bureau/Country Companies for many years. Her love of horses turned into a second career of raising and training harness horses with her father, Harold Weber. Arlene was very proud of continuing the legacy of the family farm and considered herself a farm girl.
