Arnold Lee Wehking Obituary (1939 - 2021)

Arnold Lee Wehking, 82 of Benson passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Lacon Rehab and Nursing. Arnold was born February 9, 1939 in Minonk, a son of Harry and Marie (Flohr) Wehking. He married Karen Jean Henn on February 14, 1959 in Toluca. She preceded him in death on July 30, 2021. He is survived by a daughter, Denise (Bob Bohm) Duffy, Toluca; a son, Gary Wehking, Lawrenceburg, IN; three grandchildren, Matthew (Nikki) Wehking, Megan (Justin Gardner) Duffy and Ryan (Stephanie) Duffy; a great-grandson, Bryant Lee Wehking; and three step great- grandchildren, Kamryn, Jaycee and Zeke. Also surviving is a brother, Wes Wehking of Coronado, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Karen; a brother, Harold Wehking; and a sister, Lyla Mae Wehking. Arnold was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Benson and served numerous times on church council. He was an elected Benson City Trustee and a Benson Volunteer Fireman. Arnold, also known as "Wheaties," worked for Roanoke Concrete for over 45 years, retiring as plant manager. Arnold and Karen lived a full and happy life. They had many friends and loved living in Benson. One of Arnold's favorite vacation destinations was Eagle River, Wisconsin where, for many summers, he and Karen took their children to a cabin on the lake for fishing, boating and waterskiing. Arnold's antics, quick wit and sense of humor always made others laugh! A celebration of Arnold and Karen's life will be held from 4:30 to 7:00 PM Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Calvert Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Toluca. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will be at a later date in Clayton Township Cemetery, Benson. Memorial contributions may be made to Lacon Rehab and Nursing, Benson Fire and Rescue Department or St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Benson.
