Catherine "Kay" Berniece Robertson Obituary (1940 - 2020)

Catherine "Kay" Berniece Robertson age 79 of Bloomington, IL passed away at 11:40 PM on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at Martin Health Center, Bloomington, IL. Visitation will be 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Friday, January 17, 2020 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. A service celebrating her life will be 10:30 AM Saturday January 18, 2020 at Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington with a meal to follow at the church and all are invited. Rev's Trey Haddon and Paul Stroup will be officiating. Private family inurnment will be at East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington, IL. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Community Cancer Center, Normal, IL, Second Presbyterian Church or the Bloomington Normal YMCA Building Fund. Kay was born February 25, 1940 in Peoria, IL she was the youngest of four children born to Solomon George and Bertha Berniece Bucher Hartman. She first married David L. Payne and later married John A. Orrick and was currently married to John R. Robertson on December 3, 1983 in Bloomington IL. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Debra (Scott) Erb, Springfield, IL, Scott (Chelle) Payne, Jackson, TN, Angela Orrick, Bloomington, IL, John (Vickie) Robertson, Jr., Bloomington, IL Lynne (Russ) Post, Blountville, TN, Joelle (Chris) Gary, Western Springs, IL, Meg (Scott) Costello, Geneva, IL, grandchildren, Megan (Cory) Rauhaus, Christina (Kyle) Kiesewetter, Joshua Payne, Brittany Payne, Erin Robertson, Ben Robertson, Alex Gary, Julia Gary, Erica Gary, Ilyin Costello, Mila Costello and Sasha Costello, James Porter, 2 great-grandchildren, Sawyer Rauhaus and Briar Kiesewetter. Kay is preceded in death by her parents, 1 granddaughter, Molly Erb, 2 brothers, Ed and Chris Hartman and her sister, Gladys Nelson. Kay graduated from Dee-Mack High School in 1958 and soon after started her 37 year career at State Farm Insurance Company retiring as a supervisor in Administrative Services. Kay was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, IL where she had served as an ordained Elder and Stephen Minister and served with the kitchen crew for the Friday Prayer Luncheon. The Stephen Ministry changed her life in faith and led her to a life of service to others. Kay enjoyed spending time her beloved family and friends. She was an avid golfer and member of the El Paso Golf Club for over 40 years. She was a member of the "Ladies of the Evening" Tuesday evening golf league. She had volunteered at the Community Cancer Center, Normal, IL after her diagnosis and initial treatment of lung cancer. The family would like to thank Doctors Ann Stroink, Jesse VanLe, John Migas, Alan Ginzburg, Shermain Woodhouse, Gustavo Galue, Andrew Fink, Julian Molina and Dr. Vallejo for their extraordinary care and compassions shown to Kay. A special thank you to the staff and friends at the Community Cancer Center and the staff at Martin Health Center and Advocate BroMenn Hospice for all their care shown to Kay.
