David "Dave" Taylor Obituary (1933 - 2020)

David "Dave" Taylor, 87 of Chatsworth, IL died Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 4:41 am at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave's name may be made to Vermillion Valley Bank in Chatsworth and Piper City, IL. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth, IL is handling the arrangements. Dave also known to many as "Old Man" was born on April 22, 1933 in Rudyard, MS. a son of John and Pinkie Taylor. He married Carol (Trowbridge) on January 15, 1998 in Markham, IL, she survives. His surviving children: Dawnna (Kyle) Strassenburg, Crysta (James) Stork, Cristie Taylor, Ravan Taylor, Donnell (Beverly) Peoples Sr., Robert Peoples, and Joshwa Crick. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special friend of many years, Jim Banks, and his faithful four-footed friend, Kody. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Excell Peoples III. Dave was educated in Clarksdale, Mississippi Schools. Dave served 4 years of service to his country in the Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Dave "Old Man" worked for many years at Flintkote Roofing Company in Chicago Heights, IL and for many years a bus driver for the River Valley Metro. Also, River Valley Metro in Kankakee, IL as a city bus driver. He was a former member of the UFO Motorcycle Club. Dave loved motorcycles and remote-controlled planes. To know Dave was to love Dave. The man never knew a stranger. He would joke with anyone that had the time to share a laugh with him. His laughter and love will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
