DeWayne Allen "Big D" Beller Obituary (1936 - 2018)

DeWayne A. "Big D" Beller, 82, of Pontiac, IL passed away at 11:41 am on Monday, July 30, 2018 at OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac, IL. His funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac with Rev. James O. Wolfe III officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at South Side Cemetery in Pontiac where full military rites will be accorded. The family requests casual attire to be worn for the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. DeWayne was born April 28, 1936 in Long Point, IL a son of Victor Jacob and Maude Evelyn (Marriott) Beller. He first married Harlene Bohm. He later married Trudy King and they have been together for 27 years. She survives in Pontiac, IL. He is also survived by his children: Michael DeWayne Beller of Pontiac, IL and Jacquelyn (Paul) Nicholson of Santa Rosa, CA; his stepson: Christopher Tull of Fairbury, IL; grandchildren: Adrian (Morgan) and Cody Beller, Murphy and Clayton Nicholson; step grandchildren: Taylor and Cassidy Tull; great grandchildren: Tanyn and Jaax Beller; and his siblings: Jeanette Dodson and John "Jack" (Sharon) Beller both of Pontiac, IL; and one brother-in-law: Leon Schlabowske. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Vicki Schlabowske; and one brother-in-law: Rondell Dodson. DeWayne was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School. He served his country in the United States Army achieving the rank of SP4. He returned to the Pontiac area working as a plumber and pipefitter eventually joining the Local 99 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Bloomington where he retired from. He was a past member of the Pontiac Elks Club and Wolf Creek Golf Course. He enjoyed watching all sports at home on TV. DeWayne particularly loved the Pontiac Holiday Basketball Tournament and was recently honored for having attended it for over 50 years. DeWayne was a loving husband, dad, grandpa, brother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
