Deborah "Deb" A. Nelson Obituary (1952 - 2019)

Deborah "Deb" A. Nelson, 67, Normal, passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Her service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 2:30pm at Christ Church, Normal with Pastor Scott Boerckel officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 5-7pm at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, and also an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Memorials may be made to the ALS Association or East White Oak Bible Church, Carlock. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Deb was born on March 1, 1952 in Moline, Illinois to Harland K. "Bud" and Carole (Herrick) Poel. She married James "Jim" Nelson on February 20, 1971 in Cordova, IL. Deb is survived by her father, Harland K. "Bud" Poel, Cordova; husband, Jim; their children, Leah (Eric) Rhodes, Normal; Aaron (Amy) Nelson, Normal, and Jared (Michelle) Nelson, Aliquippa, PA; grandchildren, Micah, Rachel, Josiah, Joshua, Asher, Elliana, Eve, Levi, and Maya; sister and brother, Terri (Tony) Kreisel, Benton, MO, and Mike Poel, Cordova. She is preceded in death by her mother. Deb worked multiple jobs in education. She is a member of East White Oak Bible Church, Carlock. Deb was involved in Bible Study Fellowship, teaching Sunday School and was a Youth Group Leader. She loved to read and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Deb's steadfast faith never wavered even as she endured ALS. Deb was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
