Dorothy L. Riccolo Obituary (1924

Dorothy Lucille Riccolo of Dwight, IL, just 12 days shy of her 95th birthday, passed away at 11:33 p.m. on October 2 in her hometown. A visitation will be held from 10:00am - 12:00 pm on Thursday October 10, 2019 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight, IL. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:00pm. Burial will follow the services at Oaklawn Cemetery in Dwight, IL. Hager Memorial Home in Dwight is handling all arrangements. Dorothy was born on October 14, 1924 in Campus, IL to Andrew and Clara (Jorgensen) Nielsen. She married Steve "Boots" Riccolo on April 10, 1949 in Campus, IL. He passed away in January of 2013. Dorothy is survived by her daughter; Cynthia (Mark Pfeiffer) Riccolo of Oak Park, IL; grandchild, Josephine Pfeiffer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Steve "Boots" Riccolo; son in infancy, Steven; Arnold Nielsen, Donald Madsen, Anna Seabert, Art Nielsen, Harry Nielsen, Alvena Jensen and Irvin (Babe) Nielsen. Dorothy was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Dwight and the Danish Brotherhood in America for over 50 years. She loved helping with Boots' plumbing business and used to joke that she was underpaid and underappreciated. She was also known for looking at a large plate of spaghetti and saying she could never finish it only to be wiping it clean soon thereafter. She doted on her granddaughter Josephine, laughed at her son-in-law Mark's goofy jokes (most of the time) and loved her dogs Payton and Muffin. Her life was one lived to the fullest and was an example we can all follow. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends and was always quick to laugh.
