Edward Holmes "Ned' Monger Obituary (1941 - 2018)

Edward Holmes "Ned" Monger age 76 of Bloomington IL formerly of Elkhart, Indiana passed away at 8:58 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Bickford House, Bloomington, IL. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Christ The King Episcopal Church 1210 S Fell, Normal IL with military rites accorded by the Bloomington -Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Fr. Gene Stormer will be officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 PM-7:00 PM Monday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Inurnment will be at a later date at Rice Cemetery, Elkhart, IN. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to New York Central System Historical Society, The Wounded Warriors Project or to a charity of the donor's choice. Ned was born February 13, 1941 in Elkhart, IN the son of Wendell and Ruth Holmes Monger. He married Florence Crow on November 30, 1968 in Elkhart, IN. She passed away April 5, 2015. Surviving is his daughter, Susan (Bobby) Turner, Bloomington IL, 3 Grandchildren, Lindsey, Connor and Austin Turner, Bloomington, IL, 1 sister, Marjory Monger, Largo, FL and 10 nieces and nephews. Ned is preceded in death by parents, brother, Robert Monger, granddaughter, Elisabeth Marie Turner and a niece Mary Monger. Ned graduated from Elkhart Central High School in 1959. He worked in downtown Chicago, IL at CNA Insurance Company. He later worked at Eureka Williams, Bloomington, IL as a computer programmer and at the IRS Distribution Center in Bloomington, IL. Ned served in the US Air Force 1959-1965. Ned was a railroad enthusiast and was a member of the New York Central System Historical Society. Ned was a member of Christ The King Episcopal Church, Normal, IL. He enjoyed spending time with his family and watching movies. The family would like to thank all the staff at Bickford House for their loving care of Ned these past two years.
