Erma Lucile Giertz Obituary (1933 - 2023)

Erma Lucile Giertz, 89, of Bellflower, Illinois, passed away at 10:50 P.M. Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Bement Health Care Center in Bement, Illinois. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 North Main Street, Farmer City, Illinois, with Kevin Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at Bellflower Township Cemetery, Bellflower, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 11, 2023, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bellflower Christian Church. Erma was born on February 10, 1933, in Farmer City, Illinois, a daughter of Paul and Eleanor Kumler Bidner. She married Marion William Giertz on November 30, 1952, in Bellflower, Illinois. He passed away December 11, 2019. She is survived by her two sons, Greg (Stephanie) Giertz of New Windsor, Illinois, and Steve (Michelle) Giertz of Biggsville, Illinois; four grandsons, Ryan, Jacob (Jocelyn), Andrew, and Lucas Giertz; two great-granddaughters, Brecklyn and Oliva; brother, Lee Bidner of Bellflower, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Eleanor Bidner and brother, Oliver Bidner. Erma graduated from Bellflower High School in 1951. She was a secretary at State Farm in Bloomington, Illinois, and later a farmer's wife. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, and crafting. The business name was Farmhouse Originals. Erma was a member of the Bellflower Christian Church. Marion and Erma enjoyed wintering in Florida.
