Esther R. Cox Obituary (1924 - 2017)

Esther R. Cox, 93 of Bloomington passed away at 6:30 AM on Tuesday October 3, 2107 at Luther Oaks in Bloomington. There will be a Memorial Service for Esther on Monday October 9, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bloomington at 11 AM. Reverend Lanny Westphal will officiate. There will be a visitation from 10-11 AM Monday at the Church. Inurnment will take place at 1:30 PM Monday at Mackinaw Cemetery in Mackinaw. Esther was born on February 13, 1924 in Mackinaw to Charles & Sophia Ehmann Sinn. She married Lloyd Francis Cox on September28, 1947. He preceded her in death on September 13, 1994. Esther is also preceded in death by six brothers, Carl, Herbert, George, Otto, Howard, Fred Sinn and five sisters, Wilhelmina Weishaupt, Hilda Dilkey, Lydia Wall, Lora Schmidgall, and Clara Sinn. She is survived by her three children, Stephen Earl (Helen) Cox of Champaign, Michael Charles (Donna) of Saugerties, NY , Mary Ann (Bob) McCallister - Chicago, IL, one grandson Brandon Robert McCallister, and one brother Ed Sinn of Princeton, IL as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews. She attended a one-room country grade school called Mt. Pleasant on Rt. 9 near Mackinaw, Mackinaw High School, and Browns Business College. She worked for Central IL Light Co. as an executive secretary, Joliet Public Schools, secretary and Jumer's Gift Shop in Bloomington. Esther & Lloyd loved to travel and visited all 50 states, the Far East, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Germany, and Italy. She dedicated much of her spare time to volunteering at various hospitals and medical centers and at her church. She loved to watch the Cubs, Big 10 basketball, and Jeopardy. She also enjoyed reading, music, dancing, gardening, and growing flowers. She particularly enjoyed spending time at family get-togethers.
