Father Richard W. Brunskill Obituary (1944 - 2022)

Fr. Richard W. Brunskill, 77 of Piper City, IL died Tuesday January 18, 2022 at 12 Noon at Piper City Rehab and Living Center, Piper City, IL. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 27, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Chatsworth, IL with Fr. David Sabel officiating. Burial will be in Camp Esmen Cemetery, rural Odell, IL. A visitation will be held on Thursday at the church from 10:00am until the hour of services. Memorials in Fr. Dick's name may be left to St. Peter & Paul Church, Chatsworth, IL. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Fr. Dick was born on August 20, 1944 in Pontiac, IL a son of Byron and Jayne L. (Tallman) Brunskill. Survivors include: one sister: Barbara Brunskill of Clovis, CA. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother: Craig Brunskill. Fr. Dick was educated in Pontiac schools and a 1962 graduate of Pontiac Township High School. He graduated from I.S.U. with a BS in 1966 and MS in 1971. He was a graduate of St. Meinrad School of Theology in 1983. He was a teacher at Chatsworth High School from 1966-1978 and then at St. Meinard Seminary from 1978-1983. He was the chaplain at Central Catholic High School from 1986-1990 while in residence at Wapella in 1986. He was ordained a priest in Peoria, IL. on May 28, 1983. He served the following parishes; St. Joseph in Colfax, IL, St. Rose in Strawn, IL, St. Theresa in Earlville, IL., St. John in Cullom, IL. St. Peter & Paul in Chatsworth, IL, St. James in Forrest, IL. St. Mary in Westville, IL, St. Patrick in Havana, IL and Immaculate Conception in Manito, IL. He achieved Senior Status in 2010.
