Gary L. Flurer Obituary (1944 - 2018)

Gary L. Flurer, 74, of Downs, Illinois, passed away October 10, 2018, at home. His visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. also at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Illinois Heart & Lung Foundation, 1302 Franklin Avenue, Suite 4500, Normal, Illinois, 61761. Gary was born January 14, 1944, in Gridley, Illinois, to Herbert and Odessa McColm Flurer. He is survived by his son, Charles Flurer of Downs, Illinois; daughter, Christi Shutt of Bloomington, Illinois; brother, Roger (Marilyn) Flurer; sister, Sharon (John) Ruble; grandchildren, Jaxin, Jonathan, Benjamin Flurer, and Jadin Murry. He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, Pat Flurer and son, Chip Flurer. Gary was an Air Force veteran serving from 1963 - 1967. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
