Jerry Obituary (1937 - 2022)

Magnolia: Gerald H. "Jerry" Martin, 85, of Magnolia, passed away Wednesday September 28, 2022, 10:15 pm at his home in Magnolia. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial visitation will be held Thursday October 6, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home, 416 Edward St. Henry. A private family inurnment will be held at Magnolia Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the In-Home Care Connections Hospice. Jerry was born May 11, 1937, in Palatine, IL to William and Evelyn (Davis) Martin. He married Nora "Sue" Keen on February 12, 1965. She preceded him in death on April 28, 2011. Surviving are his three daughters, Tammy (Jeff) Neuhalfen, of Henry, Julene Etzenbach, of Peru and Darcie (Gary) Kitts, of Sparland, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His parents, and two brothers, Donald, and Rodney Martin, preceded him in death. Jerry was a member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church. He was employed at Owens Glass, Streator. He retired as a foreman, after working his way up the ladder with the company. Jerry will be remembered for his wood working and refinishing work that he did. He also enjoyed, roller skating, fishing, playing cards and pool. One of his great loves in life was water skiing. He was called a "Show off" when he was behind a boat.
