Gurney R. St. Clair Sr. Obituary (1920 - 2018)

Gurney R. St. Clair Sr., 97 of Normal passed away Saturday March 24, 2018 at 7:20 PM at Heritage Health in Normal. There will be a funeral service for Gurney on Thursday March 29, 2018 at 11 AM at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington. Pastor David Berry will officiate. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A private interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Military rites will be performed by the Bloomington Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Gurney was born July 29, 1920 in Jones Hollow in Peoria to John Wesley and Laura Mae Carson St. Clair. They preceded him in death as well as one son Scott St. Clair, one daughter Verla Chambers, one daughter in law, Patricia St.Clair, three brothers and four sisters. He married Rosemary Driskell on July 5, 1947 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on December 27, 2007. He is survived by three sons, Jim (Vicki) St. Clair of Bloomington, Gurney (Colleen Petersen) St. Clair Jr of Morton, Myrl St. Clair of Washington, two daughters Patty (Denny) Grieder of Normal, Carol (Bob) Jarmin of Boise, Idaho, sixteen grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great great-grandchildren. Gurney proudly served his country in the Army AirCorp. He was a member of Danvers Baptist Church, the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. Gurney was a great man to many people during his life. A very generous man, he was always ready to help friends and family. His family adored him! From being a family member to a mentor and to just a friend, he will be missed, yet, never will he be forgotten. Rest in peace, Gurney, as you rejoin the love of your life in Heaven.
