H. Darrell Longman Obituary (1929 - 2018)

Henry: Harvey Darrell Longman, 88, of Henry, passed away Friday November 2, 2018, 9:30 am at his home in Henry. Visitation will be Wednesday November 7, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Henry United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at the Church, with an hour prior visitation. The Rev. Will Meachum will officiate. Burial will follow at Henry Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to his church, the Henry American Legion, or to the MSW Project. Calvert & Johnson Memorial Home Henry Is in charge of arrangements. Darrell was born November 11, 1929 in Henry, IL to Wilford and Laura (Hufnagel) Longman. He married Phyllis J. Dietsch on June 20, 1954 in Henry, IL. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2013. Surviving are his daughter, Gina (Darrell) Schlosser, of Henry, five grandchildren, Alexa (Chad) Tancil, Andrew, Sean, Ryan and Chauncey Longman, two great-grandchildren, Emylia and Elayna Tancil, a daughter-in-law, Patricia Longman, one brother, Alvin (Margaret) Longman, of Princeton, and his friend, La Vonne Durrette, of Lacon. His parents, his son, Richard Longman, and two brothers, Donald and infant, Bobby Dean Longman, preceded him in death. Darrell had served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Henry United Methodist Church and the Henry American Legion. Darrell had been a farmer his entire life and worked as an operator at BF Goodrich, Henry. He had served as president of the Henry-Senachwine Grade school Board of Education, was a volunteer fireman for the Saratoga Fire Department and served on the FSA Board. Darrell was very proud of inventing the Sav-Y'R-Back lifting tool.
