John "Mike" Nuckols Obituary (1951 - 2022)

John "Mike" Nuckols, 70, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Illinois. Mike's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 6pm at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington with Pastor Charles Armstrong officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to be made to the American Cancer Society or Community Cancer Center. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Mike was born to Chris and Nellie Richey Nuckols on November 14, 1951 in Glasgow, KY. He married Iris Robinson Stocker on November 16, 2012. Mike is survived by his wife, Iris Nuckols, Bloomington; his children; Paul (Misty) Nuckols, Kingston, Georgia; Matthew (Jodi) Nuckols, Crawfordsville, Indiana; Jonathan "Mike" Nuckols, Crawfordsville, Indiana; step children; Kevin (Amy) Stocker, Bloomington; Cheryl (Steve) Gannaway, Bloomington; Pam Stocker, Bloomington; Julie Jean, Bloomington; and Rick (Michelle) Stocker, Abilene, Texas. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jay (Judy) Nuckols, Lebanon, Missouri. He was preceded by his parents and 1 brother. Mike worked for Eureka Williams until their closing in 2004 and later worked for Mickey Truck Bodies. He was a member of the Bloomington Baptist Church. He enjoyed working in his yard and flower gardening. He loved cooking and especially loved spending time and spoiling his granddaughter Scarlet who knew him as PaPa. The two of them truly had a special connection. He was also known to have a great sense of humor and loved to joke and tease his family. He was the type of person who never knew a stranger.
