Jone Shepherd Van Winkle Obituary (1939 - 2022)

Jone Shepherd Van Winkle, 83, Gibson City, Illinois, formerly of Saybrook, Illinois, and Springfield, Illinois, passed away at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at the Gibson City Annex, Gibson City, Illinois. There will be no services. Inurnment will be at a later date at Riverside Cemetery, Saybrook, Illinois. Calvert-Belangee Bruce Funeral Home of Saybrook, Illinois, is in charge of arrangements. Jone was born on March 29, 1939, in Pontiac, Illinois, a daughter of Edward John and Marie Mason Shepherd. She married Donald Van Winkle on January 10, 1960, in Saybrook, Illinois. Surviving is one son, Jon A. (Pam) Van Winkle; three grandchildren, Danielle, Josie and Robert. Also surviving, sister-in-law, Vicki Shepherd of Saybrook, Illinois; niece, Tami Shepherd Martin of Morris, Illinois; and nephew, Frederick John (Bea) Shepherd of Saybrook, Illinois. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fred J. Shepherd; and one nephew, Edward John Shepherd. Jone worked 13 years at the State Bank of Saybrook, 17 years at the Farmer City State Bank and 13 years for the State of Illinois accounting Revenue Department. She was a member of the Bellflower Christian Church; a volunteer at the Gibson Area Hospital; a volunteer at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum in Springfield, Illinois; member of the O.E.S., Springfield, Illinois; member of the King's Daughters Organization in Springfield, Illinois; helped decorate the White House in 2011; member of the DAR; and several other organizations.
