Laurice Ann Smith Obituary (1959 - 2021)

Laurice Ann Smith, age 61, of Bloomington IL passed away at 6:52 AM on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington IL. Visitation will be 11:00 AM-2:00 PM Monday, July 19, 2021, at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL. Prior to interment at Diamond Grove Cemetery rural Downs IL at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 20, 2021, there will be a gathering at United Methodist Church (102 S. Seminary St., Downs, IL.) at 9:00 AM for family and friends to say farwell. CAUTION: The cemetery is serviced by a dirt/grass road. Both the road and the cemetery can be wet and muddy with rough terrain making it difficult to walk up to the gravesite. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to her family in c/o of her brother David mail to Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home 1115 E Washington St. Bloomington, IL. Laurice was born July16, 1959 in Evanston, IL the daughter of Vernon and Dorothy Downs Smith. She is survived by her 3 brothers, David E. (Tammy) Smith, Springfield, IL; Stanley V. Smith, Miami, FL; Charles M. (Janet) Smith, St. Louis, MO; 5 nieces and nephews, Annika, Vanessa, Brett, Autumn, and Evans ; and cousins by the dozens. Laurice is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Laurice worked at G.T.E./Verizon for many years. Laurice was a God loving woman who had a heart as big as the sky. She was the best mom to her dogs Kingston, Bella, Max, and Layla. She was loved by many, will be missed by all, but is at peace now with her departed family. A luncheon will be held immediatlely after the visitation at 2:00 PM, Monday July 19, 2021 at Centennial Christian Church, 1219 E. Grove St., Bloomington, IL.
