Martha S. Jannusch Obituary (1929 - 2020)

Martha S. Jannusch, 90, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Martha's celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 11am at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Pastor Billy Newell officiating. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Tuesday at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded. The family suggests memorials be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church building fund. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements. Martha was born on October 29, 1929 in Streator, IL to Paul and Meta (Beckman) Block. She graduated from Wenona High School in 1947. She married Gene Jannusch on June 12, 1949 in Wenona, IL. They spent the next 70 years doing what they loved--working together, including in the real estate and fertilizer industries; raising children; spending time with family every chance they had, and traveling from Branson to the beach and beyond. Martha was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was an avid bridge player and a generous hostess who loved bringing her friends and family together for a party. We thank her for making togetherness a priority and celebration an essential part of life. We will always remember her infectious laugh, her sweet smile, her sense of style, and quick-witted one-liners--and most of all, her deep enduring love for those she held dear. Martha is survived by her husband, Gene, daughter Chris (Steve) Groth, Morton, IL; 3 grandchildren, Cassidy (Mark) Griffith, Adam (Miranda) Groth, Lyndsey Groth (Dan Wild) and 5 great grandchildren: Avery, Sage and Noah Griffith, Abraham and Elias Groth. She is preceded in death by her parents; 1 daughter, Kathleen A. Jannusch; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
