Orva "Jean" Mehl Obituary (1926 - 2020)

Orva "Jean" Mehl, 93 of Stanford, passed away at 4:15 am Tuesday January 14, 2020 at Heritage Health, Normal. Jean was born February 25, 1926 in Eureka, Illinois, the daughter of Amos & Magdelena (Hartman) Hunziker. She married Harry Lyle Mehl on March 16, 1953 in Galveston, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2017. She is survived by 2 daughters: Renee' (Dennis) Rousey of Puyallup, WA & Anna (Mark Althouse) Mehl of Champaign, IL.; 4 Grandchildren: Benjamin Mehl, Lena Mehl, Eli Mehl Rousey & Dara Mehl Althouse; and 1 sister Lydia (Richard) Williamson of Texas. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son: Magnus "Richard" Mehl; 3 sisters: Hannah Burgess, Sadie Thompson & Verla Francour; and 1 brother: Magnus Hunziker. Jean served in the US Navy, she was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Stanford, IL. The funeral service will be at 10:00 am Monday January 20th at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Pastor Larry E. Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery, Danvers. Visitation will from 1:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial may be made to the Baby Fold or to the American Cancer Society - Hope Lodge 4215 Lindell Blvd. St. Louis, MO. 63108
