Phylis E. Bowman Obituary (1931

Phylis E. Bowman, 91 of Pontiac passed away on Friday November 4, 2022, at 2:07 PM at Accolade Nursing Home in Pontiac. Her services will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Pontiac with Pastor Cheri Grizzard. Burial will follow at Southside Cemetery in Pontiac. There will be a visitation from 9:00 am until the time of the service at the church. Calvert-Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. Phylis was born on October 3, 1931, in rural Odell, to Elmer and Laura (Jones) Meier. She married William (Bill) Bowman on July 26, 1951, at Rooks Creek. He survives in Pontiac. Also surviving are her children; son Tim Bowman of Pontiac; daughter, Lisa (Steve) McBride of Streator; grandchildren, Courtney Bowman of Bloomington, Brandi (Matthew) Miller-Lord of Paxton, Kelly Sullivan of Pontiac, Steven McBride of Streator; great-grandson, Raceyn Miller; sister-in-law, Elena Bowman of Chelmsford, MA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; two children, Sherry Lynne, Jon "Chris" Bowman; daughter-in-law, Kay Bowman; brothers, Earl, Eldon (Buck) Meier; and sister, Mary Ellen Franklin Phylis attended several rural grade schools, graduated from Pontiac Township High School in 1949. She worked for Sears, Evenglow Lodge as a receptionist for 16 years, until retiring in 1988. She also worked at S & M Shoes. She has been an active Mary Kay consultant since February 1996, retiring December 2021. She has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Pontiac for over 30 years.
