Phyllis Rae Etherton, 94 of Farmer City, IL left us to join her Father in Heaven, 11:30 A.M. January 26, 2021 at Farmer City Rehab, Farmer City, IL. Graveside services will be 10 AM Friday, January 29, 2021 at Weldon Cemetery, Weldon, IL with her son, Terry Etherton officiating. There will be no visitation. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the Farmer City Rehab. Phyllis was born September 21, 1926 in Cisco, IL the daughter of Burness Albert and Iola Maxine (Dickerson) Baker. Survivors include her 2 sons, Terry (Rita) Etherton, Dauphin Island, AL; Doran Etherton, Farmer City, IL, siblings, Ronald (Collette) Baker, Weldon, IL; Dorwin Baker, Clinton, IL; Donna G. Rhodes, Clinton, IL; grandchildren Monte (Shannan) Stuhmer, Tallula, IL, Nicole Piper, Springfield, IL, Chris (Shanna) Etherton, Belmont, NC; half-brothers and half-sisters Angie Baker Heinland, Decatur, IL, Mitzi Baker, Dunlap, IL, Betty Reynolds, Champaign, IL, Rick Baker, Eldred, IL, Ben Baker, Hillsboro, IL,; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents and 1 half-brother Alvin, Bloomington, IL. Phyllis was a member of the Farmer City First Christian Church. She was a 1944 graduate of Nixon Township High School. She was first employed by Houdi Herschey in Decatur, IL. After the war, it was learned they were making components for the first atomic weapons.
