Rebecca D. Garland Obituary (1952

Rebecca D. Garland, 69, of Farmer City, was called home on Saturday, February 13, 2022 at 3:25 a.m. She left this earth surrounded by family and love. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City, IL, with Jim Roberts officiating. Burial to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery, Farmer City, IL. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February, 18, 2022, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Farmer City. Rebecca was born on June 14, 1952, in Macon, Missouri, daughter of Lyle D. and Dorothy E. Kobs Johnston. She married Vearl Garland on January 16, 1974 in Danville, IL. He precedes her in death. Survivors include: Her daughter, Chandra (Steve) Hall, and her children Morgan Williams and Lucas Williams, all of Champaign, 2 step-children, and 2 grandchildren. A granddaughter, Natalie Garland (Tyler Day), and her 3 children all of Bloomington, IL. A step-daughter, Donna (Vic) Riddle, of Wapella, IL, they have 3 children: John Wheat of Mt. Home, ID. Jacob (Mia) Riddle of Maidson, WI. Colleen, (Jim) Byrne of Wilmette, IL. They have a total of 8 grandchildren. A step-son, David (Tina) Garland, of Grand Rapids, MI. David has 2 children, Joshua Garland, Meida, PA, and Ashleigh (Aaron) Price of Grand Rapids, MI. Together they also have 1 grandson, 4 step-children,and 7 step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Brian Garland, brother Dennis Johnston and sister Julie Johnston, and parents. Rebecca was a 1994 Graduate from Parkland College with her Associates of Applied Science in Nursing (RN), and a 2001 graduate of Olivet Nazarene University with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN). Rebecca worked as a nurse at Carle in Urbana, IL for 25 years, and later retired in 2012 from C-U Dialysis in Champaign, IL. Rebecca loved nature: fishing, mushroom hunting, motorcycle rides, vacationing, and floating in the pool. She loved dancing and listening to live music with friends. She loved attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events, and was a very proud grandma!! Most of all, she loved Sunday family dinners and cookouts.
