Richard "Dick" James Obituary (1938 - 2018)

Richard "Dick" James of Normal, IL passed away at 8:54 PM on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at his residence. A visitation celebrating his life will be 3:00 PM-5:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home 1115 E. Washington St., Bloomington, IL. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Dick was born March 5, 1938 in Decatur, IL the son of Harold Thomas and Genieve Buck James. He married Dorothy "Dot" Lunn on November 6, 1965 in Decatur, IL. She survives. Also surviving are his 2 children, Lezlie (Bob) VanVooren, Bedford, TX, Brad (Denise) James, Normal, IL, 4 grandchildren, Leisa and David VanVooren, Bedford, TX, Matthew and Leah James, Normal, IL and 1 sister, Linda (Jim) Heatherton, Decatur, IL. Dick is preceded in death by his parents. Dick enjoyed golfing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. He especially enjoyed the love of his grandchildren. He had served in the US Army and Air Force. Dick had worked in the car business for over 60 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and he will be missed by all who knew him.
