Rickie A. Gaffney Obituary (1957 - 2022)

Rickie A. Gaffney, 64, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away at 3:02 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Le Roy, Illinois. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the First United Presbyterian Church, Le Roy, Illinois. Memorial donations may be made to the Gaffney Memorial Fund c/o Busey Bank for the grandchildren's college fund. Rickie was born on July 12, 1957, in Bloomington, Illinois, to James William and Lourstine (Bicknell) Gaffney. His mother survives. He is also survived by his one son, Brian (LeAnn) Gaffney of Le Roy; grandchildren, Gavin Graybeal, Maren Graybeal and Lynsey Gaffney; brother, James (Shirley) Gaffney of Peoria; sister, Bonnie (Jerry) Albert of Le Roy; special friends, Cathy Riddle, Shawn, Jen, Lyla, and Owen Diggs; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and sister, Diana Bailey. Rickie was a deacon and member of the First United Presbyterian Church. He worked for Dome Vet for 15 years and then went to Ag Supply for another 15 years. For the last 4 years, he worked for Busey Bank as a mail courier. Rickie enjoyed playing golf and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was known for always having a big smile for everyone he met. He would be very proud knowing he was a Gift of Hope Donor who could potentially help another even after his passing. Rickie loved life and most of all his grandchildren. He always made it to their sporting events and made his life revolve around his grandchildren. Rickie was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
