Sally E. Gulley Obituary (1947 - 2018)

Sally E. Gulley, 71, of Le Roy, passed peacefully at home comforted by family on Wednesday, June 20, 2018. If a life is measured by giving thoughtfully and putting the needs of others before our own, then Sally certainly demonstrated how to have an especially meaningful life. She gave her time, friendship, and loving support to all she knew. She was a shining example of selflessness and generosity. Sally was born June 8, 1947, to Linden and Cleone Meier Currin of Chenoa. She married Bill Gulley on September 9, 1972. Sally was a Magistrate Judicial Secretary for McLean County, she also ran a beauty salon in Le Roy for many years. Sally retired after being a long-time secretary for a local attorney. She leaves her husband, Bill; son, Ben (Samantha) Gulley; daughter, Brienne (Brandon) Whitted all of Le Roy. She was the beloved "Namee" to her grandchildren, Shelby, Wyatt and Owen Gulley and Zayne and Ryce Whitted, who Sally described as, "her greatest accomplishments!" Also surviving are her sister, Janice Heuer, Lexington; sister-in-law, Linda (Ed) Donovan, Le Roy; and brother-in-law, Bob (Pat) Gulley, Le Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents, mother-in-law, Mary Gulley and nephew, Michael Hunley. Sally bravely fought a 15 year battle with breast cancer, having been an inspiration and a constant encourager to so many. Sally's visitation will be Sunday, June 24, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Le Roy, Illinois. Her funeral will be Monday, June 25, 2018, at 4:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, Le Roy, Illinois, with Pastor Eric Swanson officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. Her family extends special thanks to the loving care providers who eased her last weeks of life on Earth. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Le Roy or The Central Illinois Cancer Care Center, Bloomington.
