Samantha Jane "Sammi" Patterson Obituary (1945 - 2018)

Samantha Jane "Sammi" Patterson, 72, of Dwight, IL passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Accolade Health Care of Pontiac after a battle with cancer. Cremation rites will be accorded. A brief service will be held 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Hager Memorial Home in Dwight, IL. Visitation for Sammi will be held following the service at the funeral home until 4:30 PM. Private family burial will be held at a later date. Sammi was born September 20, 1945 in Burlington, IA, a daughter of the late Mary Jayne nee Lessenger and Owen Williams. She married Thomas Patterson on June 23, 1973 in Iowa City, IA. He survives in Dwight, IL. She is also survived by sons: Daniel Patterson and his partner, Andrew Wallace of New York City and Matthew Patterson of Normal, IL; brother, Gary Williams and his wife Josephine of University Park, MD and sister-in-law, Margaret Patterson of Lisle, IL. Sammi was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dwight and worked over the years as an audio-visual coordinator for Montgomery Ward & Co. in Chicago, an administrative assistant at Southeast Junior High School in Iowa City and Meredith Corp. in Des Moines, IA. She had a similar position at Emmanuel Lutheran Church and Dwight United Methodist Church after moving to Dwight, IL 38 years ago. From 1987 to 2003 she directed the student plays at Dwight Township High School. Memorials in honor of Sammi may be made to the Dwight Township High School Drama Department.
