Sonya B. Hughes Obituary (1935 - 2021)

GRIDLEY- Sonya B. Hughes, 86, of Gridley, passed away at 6:49 PM, on Friday October 1, 2021, at OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso. Graveside service will be on Friday, October 8, 2021, at 11 AM at Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso. Memorials may be given to American Cancer Society or Humane Society of Central Illinois. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home in El Paso is handling arrangements. Sonya Davis was born in Cornell, Illinois, on July 24, 1935, a daughter to Lester and Lucille Rich Davis. She married Bobby Baker on November 23, 1953. She later married Dale Robinson on May 23, 1970, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1994. She then married William Hughes on June 10, 1995. He preceded her in death in 2009. Surviving are 2 sons, Ronny R. Baker, Canal Fulton, Ohio, Lonny (Debbie) Baker, Wapella; 2 granddaughters, Jessica Baker, Chatsworth and Teresa Stokes, Canal Fulton, Ohio; 1 great-grandson, Taegan; 1 great granddaughter, Arley; 2 brothers, Douglas Davis, Bloomington, and Bradley (Shirley) Davis, Florida She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Sonya was a member of Christ Community Church in Gridley. She enjoyed traveling and camping, feeding, and watching the birds, and especially a good conversation with many of her friends. She will be greatly missed by her family and church family.
