Teddy K. Schanafelt Obituary (1936 - 2022)

Teddy K. Schanafelt, 85 of Kenney, IL passed away 11:06 AM May 10, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur, IL. Graveside services will be 11 AM Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Paradise Cemetery, Salem, IL with Rev. Christine Cunningham officiating and military honors will follow. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association. Teddy was born August 14, 1936 in Salem, IL the son of Keith and Erma (Shanafelt) Schanafelt. Survivors include his children, Denise (Rick) Johnson, Kenney, IL; Bryan (Robyn) Schanafelt, Scottsdale, AZ; Sheila (Steve) Taylor, Mississippi; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Dixie (Jerry) Graham, Salem, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Kay Fyke. Teddy was graduate of SIU in engineering and a member of the Army Reserves. He had written sports article for the Pantagraph, was a member of the Wapella Christian Church, past president of the Bass Club in Bloomington, coached for the Canton Redbirds women's softball team, and was an originator of the Khoury League in Wapella. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting, Cracker Barrel, fried chicken, and camping. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan.
