Deloris J. Wiechmann Obituary (1931

Deloris J. Wiechmann, 91, of Flanagan, IL passed away at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Flanagan Rehabilitation and Health Care surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022, at St Petri Lutheran Church, Flanagan with Rev. O. Wayne Shelksohn officiating. Burial will follow at St Petri Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the church, Flanagan Rehab Memorial Fund, or the Alzheimer's Association. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan is assisting the family with services. Deloris was born April 24, 1931, in Pontiac, IL, the daughter of Edwin L. and Mattie M. Rich Roberts. She married Harold L. "Tuffy" Wiechmann on November 11, 1951, at St Petri Lutheran Church in Flanagan. He died on August 17, 1997. Surviving are two children, Linda (Rick) Uftring of Minonk, and David (Stephanie) Wiechmann of Flanagan; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gene, Dick, and Frank Roberts, and one sister Mary Lou Hedrick. Deloris was a 1949 graduate of Pontiac High School, where she began dating a local farm boy, "Tuffy". Deloris and Tuffy loved spending time with their close friends dancing, dining out, and meeting once a month for Pinochle Club. They had a passion for snowmobiling and spent many winters riding the trails of Wisconsin with their friends. They were members of St Petri Lutheran Church in rural Flanagan. She worked for the Bank of Pontiac for over 30 years, beginning in 1950, and then left for a few years to raise her young children. Deloris returned in 1966 and retired in 1995 to the life of a farmer's wife. Deloris was the matriarch of the family, who loved to cook and entertain her friends and family. All who knew and loved her were drawn to her infectious and loving nature, big heart, and generous spirit. She always had a kind word and a big smile for everyone she met. Later in life her grand and great-grandchildren were the light of her life and heart.
