Gerald and Linda Edwards Obituary (1938

Gerald and Linda Edwards Linda A. Edwards, 81, of Piper City, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Piper City Rehab and Living Center. Her husband, Gerald L. Edwards, 84, passed away soon after, on Monday, September 25, 2023, at Piper City Rehab and Living Center. A funeral service will be held for them both on Friday, October 6, 2023, at 11:00 am at Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Chatsworth. Burial will follow the service at Chatsworth Cemetery in Chatsworth, Illinois. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Cullom is in charge of the arrangements. Linda was born December 13, 1941, in Mt. Pleasant, IA, the daughter of Lloyd and Neva Carnahan. Gerald was born on November 4, 1938, in Fairbury, IL, the son of Everett and Grace Edwards. Linda grew up in Benton City, WA and Gerald grew up on a farm outside of Chatsworth, IL. They both joined the United States Army after high school, which is where they met each other. After they were both honorably discharged, Gerald came back home to the farm in Chatsworth and Piper City areas. Linda joined him and they were married on December 12, 1964. They had two sons, Gilbert R. and Matthew L. Edwards, who both preceded them in death. Linda is survived by one brother, Robert Carnahan and Gerald is survived by one brother, Thomas Edwards of Chatsworth. They are both survived by their six grandchildren and their special friends, Larry and Beth Thorndyke. Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Shirley, and brothers, Stanley and Lloyd. Linda and Gerald shared a love of bowling. Linda loved to quilt and Gerald loved to farm and hunt. They will both be missed.
