Phyllis Ann Ryan Obituary (1934

Phyllis Ann Ryan 89 of Pontiac, IL passed to eternal life Thursday September 7, 2023 at 1:57 am at The Gardens at Park Pointe in Morris, IL. Her funeral will be held on Friday September 15, 2023 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church, Pontiac with Fr. Joseph Baker officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Pontiac. A visitation will be held from 9:30 until the hour of services at the church. Memorials in Phyllis's name may be made to St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's School or the American Red Cross of Central Illinois. Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac is handling the arrangements. Phyllis was born on August 23, 1934 in Dewey, IL a daughter of Elmer R. and Mamie (Lane) Wagner. She married Joseph Ryan on November 23, 1954 at St. Mary's in Pontiac. He preceded her in death in 2002. Survivors include: one son: Michael Ryan of Seneca, IL and one daughter: Diane (Nick) Rehnberg of Boulder, CO; four grandchildren: Scott Ryan, Nicole Shelton, Alison Lee and Eric Rehnberg; four great-grandchildren: Paige Shelton, Irvin Shelton, Maci Shelton and Caden Lee; one sister: LaVerne Davis of Mt. Morris, IL. Phyllis was preceded in death by one sister: Joyce Moore; one granddaughter: Erin Rehnberg; and her daughter in law: Sharylin Ryan. Phyllis was a 1952 graduate of Cornell High School. Her love of life, family, friends and the environment were reflected in the numerous organizations and clubs that she was involved in throughout her life. Phyllis's strong desire to care for others led to a career with the American Red Cross for 31 years. Faith was central to Phyllis throughout her life. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Women's Guild. Of all her relationships in life, those with her family and friends were most cherished by her. She treasured her many friends in the Pontiac area and took particular pride in her entire extended family. Her children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren brought her much happiness and joy. Phyllis showed us all the importance of faith, family, and friends.
