Raymond E. Bennington Jr, 83, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 11:01 a.m. at his residence in rural Cornell, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be no services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Calvert and Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac are handling the arrangements. Raymond was born on October 9, 1937 in Ancona, IL, a son of Raymond P. and Lillian (Shawbach) Bennington. He married Jane Carlene (Jarvis) in 1962 at First Baptist Church in Pontiac, Il. She preceded him in death. Surviving children: Jane (Marty) Butler of Saybrook, IL; Raymond (Arlene Moyer) Bennington III of Pontiac, IL; Patrick Bennington of Cornell, Bob Bennington of Cornell and Judy (Keith) Sypult of Pontiac. He was preceded in the death by his wife and his parents. Raymond attended Ancona and Cornell Schools. Raymond was a great mechanic who also loved to be a recycler any chance he could. He was good at tinkering with his hands and spending time on his property. Raymond was a loving husband and father, who was dearly loved and will be missed by those who had the chance to know him.
